The bar staff had zero training whatsoever. They didn't know how to make most of the cocktails so they googled them there and then or improvised. None of them were even close to what they're supposed to be. Also, when asking for dry wine, the bartender kept giving me very sweet ones. They had no idea what they were serving.

So while the room, the view and the pool were nice, I really cannot recommend the hotel. The staff are not professionally trained at all. More

  Location was fine although when walking into Flic en Flac it was very noisy and busy, not an awful lot there. During our 2 week stay the daytime was quiet... read more at the hotel which was lovely. The room was large and plenty of tea and coffee in the room. The shower did leak out into the bedroom but no biggy as our cleaner gave us another towel to put across the door. We stayed in a premium room looking out to sea, beautiful view. The tiles on our patio area had several cracked tiles. The food was only hot if you got it from the griddle or cooked noodles, there was a great choice of different cuisines but would have been so much nicer if it was hot. A fabulous gala meal on Christmas Eve on the beach had a lot of effort put into it. Still only tepid food though. The pool by the dining area was very dirty ( not the water) The whole place needs refurbishing and bring it up to standard of a 4* which it is rated at. I would say more 2/3* at the moment. The first night we went to eat ( family of 4) we could not find a table to accommodate 4 people, lots of tables for 2 were vacant. We were told we couldn’t put 2 tables together and we should go earlier, not the solution we would expect, after speaking to the dining manager we got tables put together. Next day we spoke with the general manager and asked why it was a problem to put tables together, he said there shouldn’t be a problem. We had evening entertainment which was loud but to make it much worse they had private functions on the beach with extremely loud music competing with the hotel entertainment. This going on while trying to have an evening meal. We did complain that it was far to loud, it actually reverberated on the patio to our rooms. Nothing was ever done about the volume, even though we complained to the general manager, the only positive was it stopped at 11 pm. I will say the staff in general were lovely. 😊 I could write lots more but I feel this is enough to be going on with.

All the staff were really welcoming. I don't remember all their names. A few of them are: lovely Lucie with her beautiful smile, Vidoushee who always spared some time to take care of me n my family and especially Mr Ajay we treats all of us equal and focuses on customer satisfaction.

  Just spent two weeks at hotel in May from UK. Lovely hotel that could be excellent if it just improved a few minor points. Don’t come here if you want... read more wall to wall entertainment but do come if you want to relax in excellent surroundings.

Good points -
Immaculately clean everywhere.
Friendly staff.
Beautiful swimming pool.
Good breakfasts.
Lovely grounds that were well maintained.
Large rooms with large comfortable beds.
Food was excellent and never got bored over two weeks. No tummy bugs either.
Flic en flac beach - you can walk for miles.
Drinks - mostly good although Pina Colada was pre made. White wine and beer very drinkable.
Beautiful sunsets.
Area felt very safe.

Bad points-
Arrival. Looked after well with drink and towel but left for 30 minutes then told room wasn’t ready and wouldn’t be for another 4 hours. Allowed to have a shower but after travelling for 24 hours, all you want is a change of clothes and dive into the pool. They were even a little hesitant on us getting lunch or a drink as the all inclusive didn’t start until we got our key. Shame holiday started like this as had no other real issues.
Tea and coffee - only available from main restaurant. Even at breakfast it was pre made in insulated jugs. Each bar had a coffee machine but was not in use. No cold milk.
Local area - some restaurants but no local shops apart from two and they closed very early.
Prices - very expensive for everything outside the hotel.
Beach wasn’t bad just disappointing. Very small and rest of frontage is black boulders used as sea defences. There’s steps leading to a sea swimming area but they are broken but still can be used with care. Take own snorkel and reef shoes. Please get those steps fixed.

We did two trips. Both were excellent and booked through Facebook from recommendations on the Love Mauritius page. Took boat trip which was fantastic. South Island trip brilliant too.

Weather in mid May was very good. Occasionally depending on wind direction there could be some cloud cover and short, sharp showers but majority of time was perfect. Very warm but not too uncomfortable.

So please fix steps to sea, get coffee machines working. Sort out check in. Otherwise fantastic hotel - keep up the good work.

The staff bent over backwards to help. There was a small issue but the bar manager immediately rectified this.

Best trip of snorkelling was from the diving section in the hotel much better than more expensive trips

Reno needed
Baseboard incompletely installed and finished. Looks tacky.
Vanity siding, as with other areas, need a coat of varnish/paint.
Patio door latch was broken and cannot be locked.
Room walls are not tastefully finished.

House Keeping
Drape is dirty and partly off hook (this was later rectified).
Floor is tiled. It is occasionally wet and dry mopped but never vacuumed.
In fact, I do not think house keeping has a vacuum.
I think I am a very clean person, somehow, the floor in the room gets quite dirty. For the ~18 nights I stayed here (2 more nights to go) my room has only been wet mopped once.
I have so far seen in the room 4 cockroaches, a spider, two large ants and numerous small ants.
I do not know the responsibility of cleaning of the corridors falls on whom. They were seldom cleaned. There was a stray cat around and at one point during my stay, cat feces was left on the corridor floor for two days only to be cleaned when I complained to the manager.

General
Staffs are friendly and hard working. Some speak Creole more fluently than English.
Swimming pool water seems clean but does not seem well chlorinated. Pool was was not heated - feels cold to me.
Pool towels are accessible from poolside cabana but it closes early at 4:00 pm. Sunset close to 6:00 pm this time of the year.
American breakfast is adequate. Stated serving time supposedly 7:30 am to 10:00 am but food choice is not adequately stocked until realistically 8:00 am. Provided food is adequate in buffet style. However, it is unpleasant to eat with pesky birds and flies which are not too few in numbers.
This hotel has a large compound and barely adequately lit in the evening. The compound contains several buildings housing the guests. In the evening, during my early days of staying here, I found the hotel compound confusing and I did not find it easy to locate my room in the dim light. I would suggest that directions be painted on the cement pavement with the buildings clearly labelled and lit on the outside wall; eg. (Building) A, B, C..

Rooms are large, well lit, provided with kettle for making tea & coffee with powder milk and sugar. Disposable slippers are provided.
There is one each of hairdryer, TV, safe, ceiling fan and AC installed in the room.
They is a phone in the guest room. However, no pen/pencil (I lost my only pen) or writing pad is provided as is customary in a lot of other hotels.
The rooms are quite and chambermaids usually do not showed up till around 11:00 am. I am fine with that.
Each room has its own patio provided with patio furniture consisting of a table and two chairs - I find those handy especially for drying wet clothes.

Hotel security is adequate. I had to sign a paper to say that the hotel would not be responsible for lost items.

All-in-all I would rate my stay here a C+ or 3.5/5.

Our room was clean adequate but the rooms facing directly onto the beach are lovely.
The only criticism I struggled with was the pool I love to swim but it was freezing !!! No heating ! pool attendant was friendly and nothing a bother. Last but no way least Loshny the F & B manager who over looked most meals with a lovely manner and smile chatted politely to guests making sure they where happy and satisfied with their stay and ready asset to your hospitality team.
This hotel isn’t to big and has a personal touch, which we enjoyed.
