  We were so looking forward to our stay at the Anelia Hotel having read rave reiews. The staff are lovely and really helpful and the rooms are relatively new and... read more modern. However, the entrance/reception area is so out of date as is the dining area (very 70's and in need of a refurbishment). The pool area is very nice, clean and the view is amazing but there is NO atmosphere round the pool area so we went to the beach each day instead. The food is definitely more for those enjoying curries (I don't unfortunately) and on one or two occasions, there were very few alternative dishes to choose from. The lack of entertainment was such a disappointment. There is a lovely man who is trying to reintroduce evening entertainment - the 2 evenings where dinner was on the beach was good and we all got up and danced with the dancers on stage but the other evenings were woefully dull - luckily we made friends with another 2 couples and on karaoke night we entertained all the other guests. There really should have been someone from the hotel to encourage others to join in but there wasn't so when we had had enough, it just fizzled out! I would say this is a 3 star hotel at best but could be so much more if they make the entrance/reception area brighter/more inviting and completely refurbish the dining area which... Just the perfect place for a wonderful holiday

  I liked a hotel, but few thinks was really not ok and I hope the hotel will do something to change things. The waiters was ok with the clients, but... read more few of them bullying the others waiters very very badly! It was not nice to see and sometimes I just wanted to say them to stop. Also two times was no glass in the table so I ask. The waiters went to the table were where the used glasses/plates and just pick for me a glass from there It was lipstick on the glass. Also sometimes we got used napkins and how knows what else. The other problem is the boathous. We stayed 14 day but not even once we was able the use the kajak or a pedal boat. The boats were in the beach, but they always gave us some stupid reason why we can use it. Once we went morning, they told us come back afternoon about 4 PM now it’s low tide. We went back, the some person just told us, sorry we close at 4 PM.. Also one day the cleaning staff left our door open, so when we come back we almost got a heart attack. Luckely nothing was stolen and I’m sure it was not a general problem, happened only once.

We were then escorted to our room and everything about the hotel was explained... read more to us .. we had a sea view room .. we had the most amazing view from the balcony .. as I was travelling with a friend I’d requested a twin bedded room , when we arrived at the room the beds were joined together but the staff quickly sorted it for us ..
We enjoyed the food very much , there were a lot of curry which I don’t eat but there was always plenty of alternative foods to eat .. lunch was normally served on the beach .. the grounds were well kept and manicured ..
The beach and cocktails weren’t great , but apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend ..
Emmanuel gave excellent customer service , always asked our our day went and he always remembered which drinks we liked with our meals ..

They asked abt your room number and they know! And food - its soooo good that i will have to go to the gym after i back to home. The gym is also in hotel area - very clean with good equipment and air condicion.
Anelia hotel is super located - near to the little city with all you need. In the centre of island - we had a car for 2 days so everywhere was near.

  The good points of this hotel are the location, on the edge of Flic en Flac beach and near a bus stop if you want to go to Port Louis... read more by bus, the views are lovely with gorgeous sunsets, nice looking hotel in lovely gardens and very chilled and peaceful with plenty of sunbeds available (in December). The rest however isn't great, our room was spacious with a fridge, TV, air con and ceiling fan, safe and small balcony however the bathroom needed an upgrade. The housekeeping was not acceptable our bedding wasn't changed for the 10 days we were there and the bathroom wasn't cleaned (just the sink once). Staff were so so some of them would speak but you had to make the effort to speak to them first, the manager however was very friendly and went out of his way to speak to guests. Food wasn't too good, breakfast was the best meal as you could order fresh omelettes, there was plenty of fresh fruit too. Lunch was the worst but you could use the burger bar if on AI. There was a hygiene issue with flies and birds around the food some food was covered but not all. It was sometimes difficult to get a drink/cutlery as the staff weren't always attentive. The entertainment was a bit of a joke, the stage where it happens is in the dining room so all a bit awkward, the... Burger bar - where do I start , food is actually okay in here but you wait sooooo long for drinks or food while some of the staff just stand around pretending to be busy. The beer is either warm or runs out very quickly. More

We are surely going back soon. The drinks were absolutely delicious! They made us custom cocktails! Highly recommended if you are looking for peaceful place.
